Ultrasonic sensors operate based on radar principles by emitting an ultrasonic wave and receiving the reflected wave from the encountered object. By measuring the time between sending and receiving the pulse, the distance from the sensor to the object can be determined. Due to their properties, these sensors are used in harsh environmental conditions such as fog, steam, and dust. The material of the object does not matter, which is a significant advantage compared to optical sensors.
