Detailed description

MCP4728-E/UN is a 4-channel 12-bit DAC with a buffered output stage and an I2C interface, enclosed in an MSOP package with 10 pins. The device features non-volatile configuration memory where the input codes of the converters, configuration bits, and I2C interface address bits can be stored. This allows the device to recall the last saved configuration settings immediately after power-up.

The device includes its own precise 2.048V reference voltage source and optionally can also use an external reference. Communication with the device occurs via an I2C interface clocked up to 3.4MHz.
The DAC provides a short settling time for the output voltage, typically 6µs. It can be powered with a voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V and typically draws 800µA during normal operation and 40nA in Power Down mode. It stands out with a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C. It is recommended for use in all types of portable devices with a high density of component packaging.
