What are Triacs?
Triac is also known as a symistor. The term "alternistor" is used as a commercial name for triacs with improved switching parameters. These components are used as bidirectional current switches, regulators, and power relays. Triacs have three terminals: two anodes and a gate (G). It is important to note that the gate activation occurs independently of the polarity. Each triac has a so-called five-layer structure, i.e., n-p-n-p-n.
Triac Applications - What Are These Components Used For?
Triacs can be used in many areas. They are products that can be utilized in alternating current circuits because triacs can conduct current in both directions. It is worth noting that a triac starts working with the use of gate current. When the current intensity decreases and approaches zero, the component automatically turns off.

Triac Characteristics - What Are the Types of Triacs?

In practice, this means that the main difference among various models in our store is the parameters of the control electrode. However, while this difference is the most significant, there are other features that allow for classifying different devices into distinct subgroups. These features include:

- current parameter that allows the valve to open (i.e., starting the device),

Triac Symbol - What Does It Look Like?
The graphical symbol of a triac consists of two triangles placed next to each other. One triangle is oriented with its base down, and the other with its base up. These triangles are positioned between two parallel lines, from which two vertical lines extend. The vertical lines start in the middle of the horizontal lines. To the left of the triac symbol, there is a slanted broken line. The triac symbol is usually placed on electrical circuit diagrams and designs.
